That lead off aridification story would be a showpiece for any museum of climate horrors. I wrote a series of short fiction on a future very hot desert earth but this makes it far more real. My stories projected that culmination several centuries in the future and underplayed the consequences for agriculture. The real thing may arrive much sooner and with much more effect. Truth is much more alarming than fiction.
Maybe it's time to start talking about "global drying" more.
