This made me ugly cry on the metro Mike. Thank you for sharing this story with us. Rest in the valley of sages John. Rest in wisdom.

Mike, I’ll be reading this again when I get home from work. But in this moment I thank you for refreshing my work ethic. And reminding me that we can diligently work a day job and retain the deep reverence held by the animate world. I love your writing more than I can say.🌱

Beautiful. It particularly resonated with me right now because I just finished reading the Old Forest section of The Lord of the Rings. I’m glad your dad was a surer guide than Merry!

Such a beautiful piece - I live in the Suir valley, which is part of the Golden Vale. Yesterday my OH returned from a walk in the woods with yet another ‘perfect’ walking stick he had come across.

Thanks Margaret. It is a beautiful part of the world as I recall it, and very peaceful too. Hope you don't have too many walking sticks accumulating at home!

Mike! I have just finished reading ‘Ladders to Heaven’ - it’s amazing! I had no idea about fig trees, none. It’s the book I chose to bring on the Camino, walking for the past week. I’ve just finished it sitting in Madrid airport as we wait for our flight home. It’s been the perfect companion.

Thanks for letting me know, Margaret. I am glad to hear it was a fitting read for the Camino.
